Programs
In partnership with the Shoalhaven City Council, University of Wollongong, local businesses and schools, the SPBA has developed programs to encourage professional growth and employment opportunities in the local region. These programs include the Professional Snapshot, as well as internship opportunities and leadership development. Read more about the SPBA programs below.
Professional Snapshot Program
The SPBA Professional Snapshot is a collaboration between the Shoalhaven Professional Business Association and Shoalhaven City Council, with support from the University of Wollongong Shoalhaven, businesses and high schools.

Students in Years 10-12 can participate in an innovative and unique presentation of career pathways and hear first-hand the professional career opportunities available in the region, as well as ask questions from experts in their field.

Local businesses open their doors and offer their time to help students learn about various sectors and careers of growth. This program showcases industries such as accounting, law, defence, engineering, surveying, allied health, human resources, strategic planning, marketing and media.

The workshops include hands on activities that illustrate a ‘day in a life of a professional’ - where business people discuss the pathways required to get into the field they represent. They share what a typical day might involve, as well as practical information on how to find jobs once students are qualified.

This program aims to encourage young people to study, stay and work in the place they grew up, and to discover different career pathways that they may not have previously considered.

Internships are a valuable opportunity for employers and potential employees to learn more about a business and its career pathways.
